Inferior feltHi,
A friend of mine coined it after seeing how disorganised I am. I'm not very good at remembering usernames but that one made me laugh so it stuck.
I think this is a great idea and am looking forward to picking peoples brains. So here's my first question - why is my felt always patchy. Doesnt seem to matter how many batts I use or how hot or not hot the water is, or even how gentle I am, its just not good enough. Anyone got any tips?

Hi catherine - welocme to the site
Patchy felt is generally to do with laying out. I did a workshop with chad alice hagen recently and she helped me cure my patchy felt by getting me to change how I lay it out in layers. She suggests getting a small piece of roving no longer than your palm. You hold it in your right hand (if you're right handed ) and place the end down where you want to lay the felt. You then place the flat fingers of your left hand over the end and pull the roving back with your right hand. You then do something she calls 'Pat the bunny' where with flat fingers you make sure the piece you've just put down is flat. You do that all over then again perpendicularly ( real word? ) until you have enough layers. She says patting the bunny allows you to make sure you have even layers of wool. I know I haven't explained that very well, I'll try to find some info and link to it. Otherwise she explins it very well (with pictures) in her books - could you order one through the library?
