Wanted: ball winderIf anyone has one of these, or knows where there is one which needs a new home, could you let me know please?

Have you had any luck yet? I tried to get one at Ally Pally but no success. I talked to the knitting machine people - machines used to come with a ball winder - and the lady said she had some second-hand ones at home and would post me one. She never did though.
Luckily I have access to one at the shop or I would go mad I took my ball winder so much for granted at home.

They pop up on ebay, but I think they were more expensive than I could justify, not having yet learnt to spin properly!
Freecycle?

Freecycle might be the answer.
Mostly I am only winding balls from 100g skeins, so it's not too bad, but if I was doing lots, for a jumper, say, then having yarn in skeins would probably make me choose another yarn!
I'll keep looking.
