Time for Weld

Its nigh on perfect any time from now onwards, I've seen some lovely stands of it, usually when going at high speed down the motorway but its so common in most areas you shouldnt have much trouble finding it. Its a fab dye for a beginner, a doddle to use and you get the most vivid lightfast yellows imaginable, it overdyes well with woad or indigo for delicious greens too Smile

I have visions of trying to explain to the constabulary why I had to stop in the hard shoulder!
I'm off to look up weld on google, probably need to put weld
dye or I'll end up with more engineering stuff!

If I find a link I'll post it here.

Ooh I'd love to see a photo if you find one. Whats its habitat? Where should I be looking?

Its so common, you will recognise it once you know what to look for. It loves disturbed ground, usually quite stony free draining areas, and at the moment its all along the edges of the road round here. Pic here

I just took a look at Sally's photo of the weld. Does it only grow in England or was I misinterpreting the small picture of the UK displayed at the bottom?
sally

grows 'everywhere' I had some great weld up near Ben Nevis one year, also my best ever colour came from weld on sea cliffs near North Berwick
