Well I decided to go a head and buy the book and I'm glad I did IMHO it looks good
Intro: looks at winders, swifts, wpi gauge, niddynoddy, yarn metre and the nostepinne
Chapter 1: A look at fibre, how to get it from the sheep to a knitted item How to card and make a rolog
Chapter 2: Drop spindles, how to make your own and a wee description about bottom, top and Turkish, and even supported spindles. And a how to make your own Lazy Kate.
Chapter 3: Wheels, includes a picture of a wheel with the names of the components explained
Chapter 4: Getting started, how to prepare your fibre ready for spinning. There's a few good pictures of both drop spindling and using a wheel And a section on the difference between z and s plying, Navajo and Andean plying
The next two chapters discuss the handspun and the lumps that make it unique, and how to add beads or different colours, etc.
The rest of the book consists of the profiles of several men and women who spin and knit, and there are quite a few patterns to try
I do like the look of the book and from what I have seen so far it's going to be well read
