Rainbow Dyeingwhat do you do with rainbow dyed fleece? the instructions that came with a basic pack of three colour dyes was to use it on fleece
Mine looked like a swatted Parrot when done which was super - but be warned new users --- it doesn't spin into a rainbow yarn

How were you spinning it? If you spin one section of colour at a time, it should stay rainbow coloured, or did you card it after dyeing which could muddy the shades, though a bit of blending is often good

Thanks for the reply Sally
I dyed pieces of the fleece after I'd scoured it (I got it raw from the sheep') many of the locks were multi-coloured so I couldn't seperate some into colours
ah well I have plenty more fleece, and the rest of the dyes.
I rarely card it - as I'm self taught and I never really got the hang of carding, so I brush the locks with a dog slicker and pre-draft into a sort of roving. I guess next time I should dye the 'rovings' ?
- my original plan was to use it as the top layer in a felt - but I started spinning and it became a bit addictive
While I'm here and asking - is there a difference between 'roving' and 'top'?
