Money!How much cash do customers take?
Do they expect to pay by card?
The Lake District is hilly... does this mean card payments don't work if you do it on some networks?

last year I took £60 with me, don't know if that was average but there were a lot more people with a lot more bags than me. some stall accepted credit cards but others didn't. I think people normally take cash or cheques and that is what I will be doing. I don't have a business account so couldn't do cards anyway

I took most of my money in cash, my cheque book and used my credit card for the big retailers when I could. But I know several of the friends I hooked up with were a bit annoyed at not being able to use their debit and credit cards in some stalls. (These modern gals....) I would suggest if you don`t take cards that you put up a polite little sign to the effect that you take cash and cheques (supported by bankers card) only, so that folk can plan accordingly.
I think I spent about £200  ...and the group of people I was with all seemed to spend similar amounts, judging by the vast pile of wooly things that we amassed between us. But we were all there for two days, of course.

I was at a business event today and the Bank there said that they no longer supply the old fashioned non-chip-and-pin handsets with the carbon paper slips. The new ones need electricity and Woolfest doesn't have power, so I am stumped!
Any ideas anyone?

A recent, high priced craft fair I went to recently had a system whereby you gained a voucher from the seller and paid via debit/credit card at a terminal in the site office. Perhaps if we all harangued Woolfest they would be able to provide a similar system?

its a real problem for small traders. I don't currently take cards, but at a recent event in a mobile phone dead area loads of traders were a bit stumped cos their machine used phones to process the transaction.

That's why I was wondering about the phone reception, I know in remoter parts of Scotland there are dead areas, and other places where only some networks will work... If you go to Morningside (posh-ish bit of Edinburgh) Vodaphone doesn't work in some streets!
Maybe Doreen at Scottish Fibres will know, she was there last year...
