hi from northumberlandHi
I'm just about to embark on trying to teach myself to spin with a drop spindle. I've never tried before, but as I knit a lot, I thought it would be great to have a go at spinning my own yarn!
just waiting for the spindle to arrive then will be on asking for advice. I'm getting some roving with the spindle but am not that sure about where to buy it from after my first go

Welcome.
I get all my spinning stuff from www.twistfibrecraft.co.uk and www.scottishfibres.co.uk
...so far at least, I haven't tried whighams and others, something about reducing the wool miles!.
We have a few members who have sheep, fleeces (is the plural of fleece, fleeces?) and fibrespace has some gorgeous rovings on her ebay shop (click on the www), I am sure there are others too.
Youll need carders if you want to tackle a fleece, wheras roving id ready carded and you only need carders to blend colours. have a look in the spinning section for ideas.
Please chip in here folks.
