Fab forum!Hi there one and all, what a great forum! I think I'm gonna be here a lot .
I'm an enthusiastic newcomer to dyeing, experimenting as I go so hopefully you'll all be patient with my thicko questions!!!! I keep a few ryeland sheep, great for spinning (which I dont do, except to show children with a drop spindle) but hopeless for felting, which I love to do
I usually swap fleeces with other shepherds to get something suitable for felting. I'm no knitter I'm afraid, bores me rigid, more of a witchy alchemist type .
So thats me

Welcome Dryad
There's no such thing as thicko questions - just pile in and ask away. I've never spun ryeland, is it soft?

Hello from me too.
Do you barter your fleeces for other things too? (I'm desperately trying to think what I could offer by way of an exchange....)
Thanks to wendy and spinningsue's mention of the ashford starter kit in the dyeing section, I am going to order one today. So maybe we could try this together?
Don't worry about silly questions, to me the only silly question is the one which doesn't get asked through embarrassment at feeling like the only person who doesn't know the answer.
I am very definitely not an expert. My son told me that an expert as an out of work drip, he then had to explain because I am a bit dim sometimes (ex-spurt). The forum was set up for exactly the reasons you identify. There are lots of places to get information, but few to actually ask a question about what you've read.
So just pile in with the questions. You are probably asking the ones which I am about to ask myself!
