Hello n and folks, I've found my way here from another forum.
Spinning is something I've always liked the idea of trying and last week I was offered a spinning wheel by my OH's father. At a country fair last weekend I got chatting with a lady demonstrating spinning and she was very encouraging although did warn me that its harder than it looks! She also recommended a jacob fleece to start with.
Anyway, I'm going for a browse around now. |

I don't think it's harder than it looks.
Perhaps only in the sense that driving is, for example.
You need to have your hands doing something different from your feet, but it isn't that hard.
I am the most unco-ordinated person you could wish to meet, I stopped going to Rosemary Conley from pure embarrassment, I mean whoever thought that clockwise crossover things with your feet while rotating your arms alternately and then punching them sideways while looking forwards (and not at your feet) and SMILING, was any kind of fun??? I think I was the evening entertainment session all by myself.
Believe me, if you can drive you can spin.

| You could always start with some prepared tops from someone like Wingham Wool work or George Weil, you might find that easier. I like Blueface Leicester. It depends whether you like the whole process of cleaning, carding etc, which a lot of people do. (I don't really). Hello by the way. |

Hi Cabagepatch, Welcome, perhaps we can take one step at the time with spinning, I am new to it and can only turn out lumpy bumpy yarn at the moment but hey what the hell - it knits up okay
