Just bought 5 yards of a pale blue dupion silk (ebay very cheap) which I want to turn into a darker harebell shade. Anyone got any experience in dyeing silk? It'll have to be a washing machine job, but I've previously only dyed silk floss and tops before so this is a bigger project.
Which dye might work best, and any idea how I calculate the quantity of dye? |

| I've only dyed silk yarn but I could ask at the online guild if you want? |

that would be great. I'm currently assuming the ordinary acid dyes will do the trick, and I know the silk will shrink and soften, but thats all fine. Got to work out what proprotions of red and blue to get a slightly violetty blue tone of pale blue now |

nil desperandum, I've bought two lengths of silk now, one too pale, the other might be ok, so whilst I still may try dyeing the paler length its not high on my to do list now If an answer materialises, great, and we'll try it out, if not, I'll exeriment when I'm feeling brave next
